I hate you! You are the worst mother EVER! This is what you made for dinner? I have no clothes. My life stinks. I wish I had a new mother. And other sweetness from our adorable children. I of course recognize there are households out there with children who don’t say these things to their parents, and I acknowledge that. But, I believe the majority of teen/tween households moms are trying to cope with these little monsters and believe they are they only crazy house on the block. I am here to let you know, it’s normal, and you are not alone. You can come out of the closet. Or maybe it is just my house. Maybe just my children say these things when they are upset? I have been doing a lot of research. And I have learned that it is actually normal for teens to flip when they get angry and really, who are they going to flip out on but the person they feel most comfortable with, mommy. And I actually take pride in knowing I can get my son this angry. He isn’t going to get his way. And if he tells me he hates me as a result, I am okay with it. The other day he slammed his door over and over again after I shut his computer down. He was so upset. But he was on way too long. So I just hit the button. Go ahead, flip out, slam the door, but you aren’t going to get your way. These teens don’t have a behavior disorder, they don’t need therapists, they just need some good old fashioned discipline and maybe a good ole wack with the wooden spoon. I am not here to be your buddy, I am here to be your mother. And I am not here to give you all a picture of roses. Sometimes my life is a mess too. I am trying to cope with it every day too.

Hi Darla, mine are 11 and 18.I know what you mean…lol..Its just growing pangs…and everyone in the home feels it.
If its any consolation it gets better again as they adjust to puberty. They pull away for a bit…but all that homemade love brings them right back home again:)
